Iridium Long Life spark plug technology is where the future lies. The patented DENSO Iridium-Rhodium alloy is 6x harder and 8x stronger than platinum. The thin Iridium coating is made of an alloy with a remarkably high melting point. Because of this, ordinary resistance welding cannot be used because the Iridium alloy does not melt enough and adequate weld strength cannot be guaranteed. The DENSO patented 360° Laser Welding process employs a high-energy laser so reliable that the electrode resists wear in the worst conditions.
